Figures Look Bad Now -They WILL Get Worse!

Bristol Fox Deaths Register 2022 -50 dead foxes reported for Jan-Dec.

Bristol Fox Deaths Register 202 Jan -9 March -53.

And those are only the reported ones and last year's dead badger count is up by three as of today.
So the 60,000+ national fox deaths and similar badger deaths appears to be no exaggeration and as I have stated before probably low.

Bristol Badger Deaths Register 2022 some16 dead badgers for the year

Bristol Fox Deaths Register 2023 some 8 up to 9th March.

If people keep reporting fox and badger deaths now that we have better reporting then by the end of the year the totals will be pretty depressing. It will, however, allow us to see where the danger points are for these and other animals.

It was suggested that I open a national badger and national fox deaths register but that would be a step too far since I have more than enough work at the moment with no funding.

We are using Bristol with the second largest urban fox population outside of London, as a petri dish for fox deaths and post mortems as well as monitoring what dies where and there are certain key locations already noted.

For those with an interest in foxes and badgers this will provide a sound data base rather like our fox colouration/type photo data base.
