Bristol Fox and Badger Deaths

I was asked what the current number of dead foxes reported in the Bristol area for 2023.
Remember these are only those actually reported and "there's a dead fox in Bedminster" does not get included without a location and photo of said fox. Keeping that in mind the total rose today to 203 and based on the fact that only a certain number of people will report something they see the actual number of dead foxes is likely to be twice that.
We have had dead foxes ignored until someone actually takes a look and finds it is a fox. Cats, by the way, can be checked to see if they are chipped and the owners can be informed.
We have also had 'dead cats' that turn out to be badgers. Again, few people stop to check and and I have heard of dead badgers but unless reported with a date, time and location (a photo also helps and as with foxes it can give us a lot of info).
The number of reported dead badgers so far for 2023 stands at 48.
Once all of the post mortem reports are in I will begin the report on fox deaths. Unfortunately Health and Safety (conveniently) refuse to allow badger PMs -we can if suspicious circumstances are involved.
